Johor State of MALAYSIA
The state of Johor ( Johore ) is at the southern most tip of the
Malaysian Peninsular (West Malaysia), just next to the island nation
of Singapore.
With the city of "Johor Bahru" as its
capital city, Johor is perhaps one of the most highly developed state
in the whole of Malaysia.
The ruler of the Johor state is a "Sultan".
The head of the state government is a "Menteri Besar" (Chief Minister)
elected by the people.
Other than the capital city of Johor Bahru, other important cities in Johor
are Batu Pahat, Muar, Kluang and Segamat.
The multi-racial population of Johor is made up of the Malays, Chinese,
Indians, Orang Asli, etc.
The Johor state is one of the most sought after state in the whole of Malaysia,
by foreign investors and multi-national corporations (MNCs). On top of the fact
that it is strategically located so near to Singapore and Indonesia,
the capital city of Johor Bahru also has very comprehensive logistic
infrastructures. Apart from the "Sultan Ismail International Airport"
(commonly referred to as the "Senai Airport"), the "Pasir Gudang Port"
and "Tanjung Pelepas Port" have also greatly facilitated the growth
and development of many huge industrial areas in Johor Bahru, especially:
- The Pasir Gudang Industrial Area
- The Senai Industrial Area
- A Few Other Smaller Industrial Areas Such as
The Kangkar Tebrau Industrial Area,
The Desa Cemerlang Industrial Area, etc.
The well-coordinated and linked
public transportation network connecting both the "west coast" and
"east coast" of Johor Bahru has also made it easy for the
local population and foreign visitors
to move around, for business and pleasure.
Johor is also a favourite holiday destination for both local tourists from
West & East Malaysia and also overseas tourists worldwide.
Among the main tourist attractions in Johor are the
"Mount Opir" (Gunung Ledang), the "Kota Tinggi Waterfall",
the "Johor Sultan's Museum", out-lying resort islands, etc.
The people of Johor have quite a high level of basic education, with many
diploma and degree holders in the work force.
Most people could converse and communicate fairly well in 2 - 3 languages
or more (eg. English, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, etc.).
Among the religions that the people of Sarawak believe in are:
Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Daoism, Hinduism, Bahaism, etc.
